Description
From the “Les Grand’Vignes” plot on the commune of Auvernier, the Merlot Signature has a deep purple-garnet color, synonymous with beautiful maturity. Like its “big brother”, the Merlot Grands Terroirs, this Merlot benefits from a unique microclimate with gravelly soils and limestone subsoils.
The main differences between these two Merlot plots lie firstly in the vineyard, with slightly higher yields for the Merlot Signature. Secondly, the origin of the wood, the aromatic toasting and the aging period are different: 12 months in barrels for the Signature compared to 30 months for the Grands Terroirs.
The result is a more lively and fruity wine, also intensely aromatic, almost as concentrated and tannic as its big brother. The fruitiness and roundness in the mouth are not lacking and its tannins are already silky for such a young wine.
